Check Engine Light/Rattling Noise

I have an 2004 TL.

I hit a minor pothole 2 weeks ago and my check engine light about 30 minute afterwards.

I ran the code and it stated the following:

ABS Sensor malfunction
Steering Sensor malfunction
Low battery voltage

I cleared the code but the check engine light came back on the next day.

Two days the check engine light just turned off by itself

Then yesterday the check engine light turned on again yesterday and I am starting to hear a rattling noise when I accelerate.

The rattling noise appears to come from the front engine perhaps on the passenger side area, I cannot ascertain the exact location.

Welcome CenturionTL !!!

Nearly 10 year old cars hitting potholes and CEL's are rather common.
ABS sensor, Steering sensor malfunction, & low battery voltage codes, hmmm ?

~ Cleared, but back, 2 days later off, then today CEL on & rattling on front side.
It appears as though the pothole may have disrupted your car's sensors and possibly something requiring closer inspection up front.

I was going to say wheel speed sensor on the wheel that hit the pothole until you said it has the rattling sound on acceleration. The only thing I know of that would link those codes together plus a rattling (if it's preignition) is a bad power or ground wire, probably ground. I would start at the battery checking those connections and checking voltage with the engine running.

Just to clarify, the rattling noise is only there under acceleration and never when coasting or idling, right?

Yes rattling noise is only under acceleration of 1-2 rpms.

check engine light has turned off again.

I think it might be a sensor malfunction.

But I still hear a rattling noise when I accelerate between 1-2 rpms.

it appears to be coming from the driver side engine or wheel area.

Still same thing. Check engine lights comes on and off. It stays off for weeks at a time then comes on for few hours and goes off.

I'm guessing its a faulty sensor? Or a wire is not grounded?

I took it to an Acura Dealership the other day told them the codes, and the tech said everything was fine. The CEL light was not on at that time.

check for a loose heat shield on your cat. they love to rattle when the welds finally break. The dealer *SHOULD* install a metal band around the cat free of charge...

it is common for the VSA light to come on when you hit a big enough bump or pothole.

to be sure it is the issue pull the codes stored in the system.
