Check engine light on after engine air filter install

I swapped out my OEM air filter today with a K&N filter and made a stupid mistake. In the process of the install, I removed the black connector shown below and forgot to reconnect it after I was done . When I started my car, the first thing I noticed was a very rough idle. Also, the VSA, exclamation mark indicator, and check engine light came on. I then realized what I had forgotten and turned off the car to reconnect the connector. Now, when I start the car, I don't notice anything abnormal but the check engine light is still on. Should this be of any concern?

Sorry for starting a new thread on this. I need to go somewhere today and want to know if it's safe to drive my car with this CEL on. Thanks in advance!

Should be fine, just take it to an auto parts store and get the codes cleared.

You SHOULD be fine. That's the MAP sensor connector. The ECU/ECM should clear the codes automatically in a day or two if it doesn't sense any more problems. . I'm not sure why the CEL is still on, but it's probably because the emissions READINESS CODES have now been reset. It might take a day or two for the CEL to go out. There is a section on READINESS CODES in your owner's manual in the emissions section.

^^^^actually, the owner's manual says it may take several days to complete the readiness codes. There is a procedure to try and accelerate the process on pp 263-265 of the owner's manual (04 manual):

It'll be fine. Just give it a few drive cycles and the MIL will go away.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was hoping that the CEL just remained on because of the initial disconnection of the MAP sensor connector and hadn't cleared yet. But today I did notice that the car had a pretty rough shut down when I turned off the car. I think I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow just to be safe.

I did the same exact thing last night as the original poster stated. DOH!
Thanks for this thread even though it's 2 years old.

Guess I'll wait a couple of days to see if it goes away unless you all have any tips to manually remove the check engine indicator.

Thanks
