Check engine light on after engine air filter install
Check engine light on after engine air filter install
I swapped out my OEM air filter today with a K&N filter and made a stupid mistake. In the process of the install, I removed the black connector shown below and forgot to reconnect it after I was done
. When I started my car, the first thing I noticed was a very rough idle. Also, the VSA, exclamation mark indicator, and check engine light came on. I then realized what I had forgotten and turned off the car to reconnect the connector. Now, when I start the car, I don't notice anything abnormal but the check engine light is still on. Should this be of any concern?
Sorry for starting a new thread on this. I need to go somewhere today and want to know if it's safe to drive my car with this CEL on. Thanks in advance!

^^^^actually, the owner's manual says it may take several days to complete the readiness codes. There is a procedure to try and accelerate the process on pp 263-265 of the owner's manual (04 manual):

Thanks for the responses guys. I was hoping that the CEL just remained on because of the initial disconnection of the MAP sensor connector and hadn't cleared yet. But today I did notice that the car had a pretty rough shut down when I turned off the car. I think I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow just to be safe.

I did the same exact thing last night as the original poster stated. DOH!
Thanks for this thread even though it's 2 years old.
Guess I'll wait a couple of days to see if it goes away unless you all have any tips to manually remove the check engine indicator.
Thanks
