so i have a 2005 acura tl base w/navi auto. the car has 74k on it. when i turn the car to on the check engine light would stay on then blink 5 times then turn off. is this normal? or is it trying to say something. if i put the key in and turn it to start and let go the light just disappear.

hmmm..sounds like it could be a "miss fire" code
mine did the same, would tay on, then start flashing. and it turned out being a cylinder 4 miss fire..get it checked out. i heard many guys here are having the same miss fire codes

I wouldn't worry about it unless it stays on or comes up while you're driving. It's probably just system diagnostics.

edit: also make sure your gas cap is closed all the way (3 clicks).

I'm also currently having engine misfire codes but my light stays on. If your's turns off, I would go to the nearest shop and usually they would hook up the obd reading thing (not sure what its exactly called) and it'll tell you whats wrong.

if it's p0300 it's a random misfire, if it's p0301-0306 the last number indicates which cylinder is misfiring. I'm currently trying to fix this shit myself so someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

My check engine light came on yesterday. It gave me the cylinder misfire codes, all 6 The guys at AutoZone reset the computer and check engine light went away, for now.

I just seafomed my car about 2 weeks ago, why did it throw those codes out?? I'll be changing out the spark plugs this weekend and I've changed my oil every 3500 miles.
