Maybe try resetting the ECU?

I know this thread is old, but its important to leave the reset ecu link here since the exact same sluggish feeling started happening on my car when the app sensor was changed and the triangle and vsa lights came on and were reset.

I just replaced my APP sensor, i didn't have to reset the ECU.

Even adjusting the cable to reduce slack was instantaneous.

Maybe OP didn't have P2138?

I had a couple of limp mode 3 years ago, due to battery (low voltage), not APP sensor. This time, it was the APP sensor.
