Cassette Player Not Working!!
So, I'm having this weird issue with my cassette player...
It will insert, go into TAPE mode for about 7 seconds then switch to CD [or FM]. Then if I try to push TAPE it won't even bring up the tape mode! What gives!?
Then there are times where tape cassette auto-ejects. Sometimes, it just stays in the system and not do anything!
I use it to play music from my phone/mp3/iPod and I don't like the FM transmitters...
I noticed that I had issues right after I seafoamed, changed engine oil and changed my tranny fluid. I took out my battery to get better access to the tranny-fluid-bolt-thing.
All other electronics work perfect. Had this issue for three days [and counting] now.

So, no one??
Could I have somehow fried the cassette player??? I already miss being able to play songs on my N8 =[
I do! Or used to...
I was cruising in my '88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme two years ago, before I got the TL, and found a stash of tape cassettes in the glove compartment.
Had Beethoven, Spice Girls, Aqua, ACDC and various mix-tapes!
I rocked that thang ol' school with Aqua!---Till the cassette jammed and I was doomed to listen to it forever [so long as the radio was on tape mode].
Hahah thanks.

Hope it didn't =[
I'm still hoping that it is some battery reset issue. Like how sometimes my windows don't auto roll-up-or-down after my battery dies [or has been removed] [the issue gets resolved a few days later].
If it's gone.. then, well, guess I'll do what that one member did and use it as a chewing-gum-holder.

Yep, to program auto-up and auto-down, press the switch up or down a couple seconds after the window has gone all the way.

I'd just find all the songs you have on your tape in mp3 and just burn a cd and call it a day. Tapes sound awful anyway Once I get my iSimple, I'm actually thinking about gutting out the tape deck, padding it down and making it an iphone integration slot

I don't have iPhone or iPod though.
At the moment I'm using CDs again. I have a large collection of CDs so it's no bother... just hard when I can't carry 100+ CDs in my car.
My N8 has a built in FM Transmitter, but it's garbage since it needs to be in certain spots in the car to work [too much static in most spots].
And nope, sorry, didn't fix the issue yet---but have something planned that will solve my problem.

it should, or at least an AUX left right that you could make in to a 3.5mm input with a few cheap connectors. thats what i did for my gps. i have a similar iSimple box that has the ipod hookup, but also the AUX. i just ran a connector to a long 3.5mm cord so i can wire up the headphone jack of the gps and play movies through the stereo.

Something similar as blkaspec
That's neat! Thanks for the info.
What I had in mind was completely gut the tape cassette since it no longer functions. Figure out the wiring from the tape cassette and tap an AUX 3.5mm input connector where the tape cassette slot used to be.
Hopefully I can utilize the "TAPE" button as the 'AUX on' button. Then, beside this new AUX 3.5mm input I'll install two or so USB chargers [these will always be powered].
And of course, I'm going to keep the nifty ACURA-logo'd-tape-cassette door so it looks OEM and hidden.
Haven't started anything yet as it is exam and project time at school [and the winter break is just around the corner so no time for the car as I will be visiting family].
Hopefully the USB can fit into that slot... since the plastic/rubber around the male-connector in most USB cables are a bit thick.

^ i would NOT gut because no one in their right mind would ever want to buy that car with a gutted tape player. i think they would opt to have a non-working unit over a "modded" unit.

I don't plan to sell the car until a long time. I still have to pay it off, about 11K left to go [or 2 years]. Still in school and see more school in the future so I'm leaning a bit to this mod.
I have a L/R Audio-in-to-3.5mm cable. A few of them actually.
I'm already seeing possible mods for going this route.
Thanks for the pic!

My cassette adapater is stuck inside the unit. It will not eject nor will the tape/disk button switch it from disk to cassette. Only plays the disk now and I can't get the adapter out. Suggestions?

Same thing happened to me. Got a flathead screw driver shimmed in the side of the adapter and moved the tape adapter to the side slightly and viola! working again!

Lol!
I Searched google for this problem my tape deck and found this website. Even though this thread didn't solve my problem, it was the only thread I found on it, so when I fixed the tape deck I thought I would join this site and share my fix.

Is your tape deck recognizing your adaptor? My tape deck was basically acting like there was no adaptor inside. Eject did nothing. Pressing tape/disc did nothing, but I could hear a slight clicking sound like the tape gears were moving even when the car was off.
To be exact, I tried using the flathead screwdriver to lift the adaptor up in an effort to pull it out with needle nose pliers, but that didn't work.
Next I slid the screwdriver in the right side of the tape deck and moved the entire adaptor slightly left and the tape deck immediately recognized it again.

Real quick, in case anyone is still having problems. My adapter continued to eject after playing for a few seconds, so while I was following the advice of trying to centre the adapter, I bet the outside. This bent made it so that once it went it, it didn't auto eject itself and now continues to play fine.
I haven't tried pressing the eject button, but if you have no need of the cassette player and don't want to buy another one, then this might also work for you.
