Car Infested with Stinkbugs (SRS)
So,
I just realized that my car may be infested with stink bugs. I saw a stink bug appear in my car about twice before, but I just thought it was a coincidence from leaving my car windows open while driving. I found SEVEN (that's right SEVEN) stinkbugs in my car today (four dead underneath the rear glass, one dead INSIDE the drivers side dome lighting, and two alive crawling on my dashboard). I am guessing the dead ones underneath the rear windshield were blown back there when I had my windows opened. So I called Acura and they said "they will see what they can do" - I am technically under full warranty (bought my car Acura certified). Anyways, here are pics:

![](http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/g474/mszczep1/IMG-20110516-00001.jpg)
So my questions are:
1) Has anybody had this problem before? What did you do about it?
2) How do I get the bug out of my dome light (pictured above) without breaking the plastic? How the F did it get in there?
3) WTF?
Thanks.

Holy crap that is odd!
Had you left your windows open over night im not sure how or why they would be in your car its not like its full of stink bug food
i guess just take them out and see if anymore appear i am sure that they will go away there is nothing for them to live off of.... maybe there was a swarm of them one evening while your windows were cracked and some found there way into your car and got stuck that would be my best bet.

The dome light cover just pops out. Use a butter knife or thin bladed screw driver and just wiggle into an edge, then pop the cover off.
As far as warranty, that won't matter. No way an infestation (if that's what you have) is a manufacturing defect.

yuck. i think i had one in my car once last fall...when i tried to get it out...OMG. talk about stink! its a mix of a really bad fart with rotten eggs and smelly feet mixed with sewage water.
thankfully that was my only one. he got flicked out of the car.
vaccum. leave all your windows closed when parked...other than that don't know. i hear that dryer sheets might deter them. the one in the dome light...those little guys get everywhere. i think i have a dead mosquito in my third brake light.
there is a way to pry the dome light cover off...check for DIY bulb interior bulb change to get instructions.![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
good luck...this might be a first.

Thanks guys, I cleaned out my car pretty thoroughly about 10 days ago. I am worried that they may be hiding somewhere in the ventilation system. I double checked my trunk to see if there was anything edible in there, and all i saw were papers and some clothes. I'm going to vacuum thoroughly again tonight and will see what happens over the next few days.

leave the windows closed.
Maybe check the cabin filter to see if they're getting through there?
Wait for a nice hot summer day and park in direct sunlight. Should solve your problem in one go.

Take out your cabin filter and have the vents blow full blast, put in a new cabin filter (if you haven't replaced it ever), check under your seats and in the engine bay.
You may also want to remove the trim below where the wipers are to see if you have any in there as well.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I vacuumed the inside of my car again to see if that would help (especially under the seats and in between the seat cushions). I will definitely replace the cabin air filter asap.
PS, i've had the worst day car related. I live close to downtown Baltimore so all we have around here is street parking. I park on the ends of the street all the time so that people wouldn't park too close to me (i.e. I can park as close to the end of the curb as possible so to leave myself more space). I parked at the bottom end of the street and this D-bag parks INTO me. Literally, the car had bolts sticking out of the front license plate and they went INTO my back bumper, leaving two small holes! Not only that, this idiot was halfway on a crosswalk, parked illegally. I left them a note, took down the license plate number, and took some camera phone picture, and left a message to the City of Baltimore Transportation Dept. Hopefully something comes out of it and hopefully I get these bugs out of my car! /endrant.

I can just imagine pulling the headliner down and it raining stinkbugs. Around here it's spiders, specifically black widows. Luckily I've been bitten enough that I know they don't do anything to me. There was a serious scare when I was young with a spider bite in the wrong place and some pretty harsh accusations against the GF lol.

What makes you think this is a warranty claim and Acura should be held responsible for correcting the problem? I hope there is a good reason because I have found 2 stinlbugs in my ride in the past 2 days and now I am worried.

OMG OMG. I would cry like a little girl and set the car on fire. I don't do weird bugs. When people say "bomb it", literally bombing it would probably be my plan of attack.
Any update?

if this BUGS you,
you may want to buy a Mazda.
they may somehow cancel each other out.
see http://voices.washingtonpost.com/blo..._the_yell.html
infestation in auto plants is not impossible.
