Car Honks Before it Starts
Car Honks Before it Starts
Ok so i havent been on here as much as i used to so excuse me for being a little rusty at using the search tool lol. I did a search but did not come up with anything except a thread from 2008 which was left unanswered.
Problem: anywho, on to my problem. my 2005 acura tl "honks" before it starts. if the switch is open all the way right before the engine actually starts it honks quickly 3 or 4 times. The car starts just fine and everything just honks right before. has this happened to anyone? is this a sign of a problem that is to come? any input would be greatly appreciated. i will try and get a video by tonight to show exactly what i am talking about.
thanks in advance and sorry if this a repost..i feel like such a noob when i come on here now

2 Options for you to try..
1. Save your radio code, undo your battery, leave it sit for couple minutes then plug the battery back..
2. do you have OEM or aftermarket car starter? if so, try to have it re-program to the dealer..

perhaps at one time, there was an aftermarket starter or alarm systems installed. then original owner have removed it before they sold the car. That means the wirings were messed up.
Either bring your car to the dealership or any place who install remote starter/alarm systems and have your car checked..

Question fo the OP,
Before you start the car, leave the key in the ON position (second click forward just before crank) and bang on the steering wheel a bit. Do you get honks again? If so, an aftermarket shock sensor may have been left in or the entire alarm unit is still in but not fully disengaged.

Somethings loose for sure.
I used to have an Isuzu Rodeo (shittiest car of all time by the way) and the horn would go off in the middle of every night, for no reason whatsoever. It would just lay off as if someone was pressing on it and obviously no one was. The only way to fix it without ripping everything apart was to take out the fuse for the horn. Not really safe to do, but I would be driving and the thing would just go off like for no reason. Lol.

Speaking of messed up wiring, my seat warmer buttons are mixed up. The button closest to the driver operates the passenger seat and vice versa. Someone, tell me this is not as designed! I bought my car used too and it was bone stock so it's very strange that the wiring is swapped.
