Can't Remove back Seat

yes, i tried removing the back seat and it wont come out. the bottom piece is being held my one bolt. i've tried to loosen the bolt and all it does is spin and spin so i cant get the back seat out! it sucks becuase i have a blown strut and this is the only way i can get to it.

anyone have any idea what the problem is and how i can loosen that bolt/nut??

thanks in advance

there are 2 bolts in the center of the seats- one upper one lower- plus the end bolts you have to pry the cushion away to find
Once those are out, the seat bottem pulls UP at its front- 2, 1 inch long tabs lock it into slots- then it can come out at the back
Be really careful- the sharp metal edge of a mounting brackets is known to tear up the plastic doorsill plate and scratch paint!!!- use a helper to hand the seat parts thru the door

If all else fails - cut an access port to the 2 shock bolts- its a few inches apart, then a small speaker grill or even a carpet dashmat will hide it from view

If you cant get the seat out- thats what I would do, make my own access

the bolt that holds the seat on ( I am assuming its the one that is under the cushion on the passenger side) is long and will take about a minute or two of turning constantly to get it out. If you need more help PM me and I can talk you through it tomorrow.

this bolt screws into brackets for both the lower and upper seat. if it is just turning and turning, there's a possiblity it could be unscrewed and just stuck in the brackets. try to figure out if it is already unscrewed and loose, then just pull it straight out.

cut the bolt with a dremel and then buy a new one at a hardware store or stealer. it sounds like the bolt threads got stripped in the middle of the thread body.

sometimes when i have a bolt that just spins, i lodge a pair of small pliers underneath the head while i unscrew, putting pressure on the bolt pulling it towards u while unscrewing. this might help the threads get back on track, although i dunno if u can do this in that small space or w/o 2 ppl.

well theres no space to put pliars under. the bolt is sitting as if it were tight all the way. and it the bolt that hold both the back and bottom pieces of the rear seat. i might try the dremel thing if all else fails

on the driver side there is the same bolt. remove it. the on both side there are 2 bolts that hold the top back on. these are located under the seat bottom. should be gold or black and the braket should be gold and shaped like a u. http://www.in.honda.com/Rjanisis/RJAAI003_205.htm

NOTE: Take care not to scratch the body or tear the seat covers.

Remove the seat cushion bolt (A), then pull the seat hook knobs (B) to release the seat cushion.

Loosen the upper bolts (C), then remove the lower bolts (D).

Install the seat in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

Guide the belts over the front of the seat-back as you install it.

Before attaching the rear seat-back and cushion, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belts.

When installing the seat cushion, slip the seat belt buckles through the slits in the seat cushion.

yea i know exactly what bolt this is. u know how it holds the metal brackets for the top and bottom cushions...when u unscrew are u sure that the bolt is still sitting all the way tight or did it get unscrewed a little and the brackets moved forward? it sounds like u just need to drill it out.

u could try going to a honda/acura shop or aftermarket shop before trying the dremel though and seeing if u can pay a tech $20 to take it out. actually when i think about it, i would definitely stop by at a shop first.

have you pulled the B clips in this pic to allow the seat to pop up so you can pull that bolt/flange out?

Have you tried putting your hand on the bolt and pulling it out?

so this is what happened, i did my coilover install yesterday and had to muscle that damn screw out for the back seat. it turns out, what is holding the bolton the other side is a weld nut, the welds broke and the nut came off, i pulled, and pulled and got the bolt out and i heard the nut fall to the floor, so now i cant screw the that damn bolt in!!

any idea what to do about this?

This has happened to me before, it is a pain. If you can not tack weld a new nut from behind, go to the hardware store and get a new nut. Then using a thick epoxy so it wont slide, epoxy the bolt to the back. The epoxy is really strong and u should be fine.

I didn't put mine back in. I don't see the point, since the bottom seat tucks under the backrest. Save your money and let it be. There's nothing to rattle under there and the seat will never pop out on its own. Just make sure the clips in the front are latched on good.
