when i put my car is tiptronic mode, it drives fine, i can upshift but can't downshift. basically i can hit + but not -

Tranny feels fine still and car is at 65k

 

were you revving high when u tried to downshift, cuz i think if you try to downshift and the car knows it was gonna make the engine over-rev it wont let you downshift.

 

If you attemt to downshift at a rev that would cause an overrev condition- the car tells you by blinking the number of the gear you tried for a few seconds- then returns to solid diplay of the gear you are still in.

If the problem is not rpm related- did someone spill a soda or anything in the center console- shifter area. Thats a popular thing to do!
Underneath the shifter stuff are 3 microswitches that operate the whole gear selection process. One or more of them can get shorted out and quit working. You can buy the single piece you need at the dealer.

 

im in 4th gear going 30mph and i still cant downshift so im pretty sure. It might of been someone spilling something, i tried removing everything today but i can't seem to get the cupholder out. anyone wanna gimme a hand in this

 

I;m having this same issue.. I've found out that sometimes mine will allow me to shift down say running 60 in 4th then shifting down to 3rd, no problem. Other days I'll be slowing down and hit 35-40 and go to shift down, and nothing. Nothing has been spilled on the center console etc. It's like on some days it will and others won't. It's almost like the electronics aren't making any contact on the - end. At times I've had to hit the stick twice to down shift, and at various times it has dropped two gears when I hit it twice, other times it drops one. And of course the rest of the time I get NO shifting at all.
