cabin filter -fever

I checked the various threads on replacing the air in cabin filter thought I had it made, ,go buy a filter then when I took the glove box and disconnected it there is a wall (interior of glove box area) with no access to the cabin filter !!!. I have a 2006 TL , I read where someone took a dremel drill and cut a hole to access the filter holder but I dont want to do that , can anyone tell me how to get to the filter holder via which screws to remove ?etc? so I can replace the filter? appreciate your replys in advance

Go to FAQ to 3G TL Newbies... and scroll about half-way down. Better yet, do a search for cabin filter or F-130. Hope this helps.

pull out the screws in the center and the push clips at the top and then pull the panel out hard.

and when you pull it out dont break the trunk release master switch..

its two 8mm bolts with phillips heads..

take them out, push the center of the two upper clips. grab the right side of the glove box area where it meets the door trim. and start pulling, dont just pull hard for a long period of time, pull hard fast. if you dont, you have a chance of breaking the clips. once u get the box down, unplug the light and the master switch.

thanks all

thanks all for the info, i studied it Iv'e decided to let a dealer do it if not charged for it....I'd hate to break the clips.... Hello Honda, there should be an access door when they designed the interior of the glove box!!! instead of having to "rip and pull " thanks for your replies!!

That would be nice, but that would make it too easy for everyone and then they can't charge you for bringing it in and having them do it themselves. Same reason the oil filter is on the bottom of the car. Same reason you got to remove parts to get to the spark plugs. They have their ways of getting you into their shops.

1st I did my cabin filter... it took me 3 days to figure out, and the day I finally got inside, it took me like 15 mins.

I changed my filter for the 2nd time last Wednesday and took me 10mins. Very simple, and no worrys about breaking the clips. Just pull slowly and it will come off.

Good Luck with that. If it's less than $120 ( ) I'll be surprised.

Yeah.. usually I will have the dealer do other services such as oil change or brakes, but the air filter and cabin filter can be done easily in a matter of mins.

But if you have the money for the installation... go for it
