A/C temp control on the fritz

A problem has developed in my 04 TL with the air conditioning. When I turn on the a/c, after the initial "cooling" period where the interior is now comfortable and getting colder, I try to adjust the temp upwards, but it still blows very cool. I have to crank it to "HI" for a few seconds until heat starts coming out, then I can take it back to 76 or 79 degrees and the thermostat operates normally. Could this be a sticky door in the system?

Is the temp sensor installed correctly? It is under the steering wheel in the panel by where your right knee would be. If it fell out, then it could be sensing the temp from behind the dash instead of in the cabin.

Check out the 4th page down on the right. What you are looking at is part A and B.
