Bumper Was Removed, Now Trunk Not Closing Properly

Hi all, I had a tailight replaced today which required removing the bumper. I noticed this evening that the trunk no longer closes properly, as if the loop is not aligned with the latch and I have to slam it. I don't want to mess anything up, and from the bumper removal videos I don't think that the loop part of the car needed to be touched? Is this accurate? Any ideas what could be causing this sudden issue with closing the trunk? When I try to close the trunk it bounces off something, pretty sure the latch/loop. It used to close so smoothly I could just let it drop and it would go down itself easily.

I'll call my mechanic tomorrow but it's such a pain to go down there, wait around etc. If it's a super easy fix then I'd rather deal with it myself... thank you!

It sounds as if your mechanic touched something he did not needed to touch - trunk lid, striker bolts. Look carefully whether the bumper seats perfectly.

Thanks, that’s what I feared. I wonder if that black piece that surrounds the striker plate has some flexibility or if it clips exactly into the right place. At this point I’m worried if I keep opening and force closing it will be worse haha
