Hi guys,

I normally just read and haven't really taken the time to post before. But now I have a technical ? for you all.

My passenger HID is acting funny and I'm unsure if it's a ballast issue or a bulb issue. Here's the problem: I turn on the headlights and they come on just fine, then within 5 minutes the light starts going pink / purple and then eventually the passenger bulb shuts down.

Do you guys think it's the Bulb going out or the ballast? I would think if it were the bulb it wouldn't light up at all but I don't know enough about HIDs to form an educated opinion.

As far as I know, "pink-eye" indicates a failing bulb...

And due to shift, it's generally recommended to replace both bulbs at the same time.

 

Pink means your bulb is taking a crap..

Thanks guys. I do appreciate the info. Will be grabbing a new pair of bulbs. What do you guys think of the Phillips D2S CM (Color Match) bulbs?

 

Yes its probably your bulb. It it is a ballast usually you will see a flickering HID.

 

Can't really help you there, still on my original lamps. There are several good threads on headlights. Do a search and you should find enough opinions to keep you busy for a while....
