"Bucking" at low speeds - 6MT
Just started happening a few days ago. When I first set off, before the car is fully warmed up, at low speeds in 1st gear there is some "bucking", as if I'm getting on and off the gas pedal repeatedly (which obviously I am not). Under constant throttle I am used to just smooth acceleration or a steady cruise. My first thought is dirty throttle body butterfly valve that's sticking but like I said, once the car warms up it no longer has this issue.
Car is a 2006, 6-speed, ~96k, well maintained (well, except for the damn heat shield rattle but that's a different topic).

See if you can recreate it in multiple gears. Mine was bucking/sumbling like a mofo in 1st and 2nd and until I tested it, I didn't realize it was in all gears at low throttle input. My confirmation it was the APP sensor was using the cruise control, I had zero bucking/stumbling. Replaced the APP sensor and all is good.

Did changing out the app solve your problem? Having a similar issue with my 07 tl-s it bucks like crazy in first gear trying to maintain a low throttle. If I'm accelerating there's no problem, if I'm sitting in neutral and hit the gas pedal rpms will go up then drop to about 1000 then go back up to 1300 or so then slowly drop back to 800

Here we are a year and a half later and I need a new APP sensor again. I want this one to last a little longer so I'm going to skip the junk yard and just buy a brand new one.
Is the "Standard Motor Products" one fine or do I really need to spring for an OEM Acura one at almost double the price?

Doesn't that depend more on your willingness to replace the part again if it fails sooner? If you don't mind the labor involved, save money and buy the cheaper part. If the labor and/or inconvenience are of concern, buck up for the OEM and be done with it for the next 5-10 years.

As far as I understood, Standard Motor Parts make the OEM app sensor. When I compared the SMP one to the OEM from Honda, the only difference was the Honda logo. However I didn't crack them open and compare the internals either.

I replaced the APP sensor with the SMP one bought from rockauto and they were identical, even the stampings.
