Broken Engine Mounts question
Broken Engine Mounts question
My engine mounts have been broken for a while now. I'm about to replace them, but I'm aware that other parts could have been damaged from the engine movement. My question is... Does anybody know what parts?
I want to inspect everything while I have the car on the lift. Any ideas?
Thx in adavance.
On a side note...My tranny would jump out of gear while stoping or making turns. This whole time I thought it was the trans, but turns out it's been the mounts this whole time....

make sure those transmission lower mounts are still good. also a common failure are those subframe mount/bushing brackets. they're located on the subframe and bolt up to the vehicles frame.
well the obvious also, like the rear mount. and check the bracket for the side mount. that one contacts the mount assembly causing a bad strut sound when going over bumps. but if you have access to a lift,im sure your teachnician will provide you with a thorough inspection.

^^ I'm the technician...
. I just bought the XLR8 mounts and engine torque damper combo so I'll be replacing all mounts. I was planning on checking the tranny cable link to see if it's bent. I'll definitely check those bushing brackets and tranny mounts.
Sorry for the delayed response and thx for your responses. If anybody has any other suggestions, I would appreciate the input.

^^ I hope you didn't take the me being a technician seriously..lol. I just meant that as, i'm the one doing the job. I'll be using my buddy's lift, but I think you should fine on the ground. It looks pretty simple.

How many parts here? Would you know the part numbers so I can order these and get this done? '06 TL A/T
i recently installed my xlr8 75a mounts with the exception of the rear because one of the bolts holding it to the sub frame was seized but there was a huge improvement in feel because both my front and side were completely shot. The install is simple but not easy with the stiffer mounts, requires a lot of push and pull to get the holes to line up. Job should be done on the ground as well !
