I just ran into this problem thinking it would be a simple 1 hour pad and rotor replacement I've ordered the Time Set 1415 kit and will do all 4 caliper mount holes(even the unstripped ones) so there's no chance of steel-Aluminum corrosion problems in the future. I wish Honda just went with steel inserts or anti-corrosion anti-seize from the factory.

SRG818, How did it go for you?

I just ran into the same issue today trying to change pads and rotors. I've only got as far as the 2 driver-side bolts, but both were seized/stripped. I'm looking at attempting the Time-sert repair as well, but I don't have much experience with thread repairs. Maybe a dumb question, but is it possible to do the repair on the vehicle, or do you need to do it on a drill press.

Thanks.

What route did you end up going? I just ran into this Saturday. Looks like were going to try the helicoils out tonight on it.

I repaired both sides using the 1415 Time-Sert repair kit. It seemed to be a solid repair... I was able to torque all 4 bolts to around 130 ft-lbs when I was done without any issues. It actually would not have been that bad, except for the fact that when I went to remove the passenger side bolts, they both broke on me. In hindsight, I wish I would have tried putting a torch on them. Not sure if it would have made a difference, but drilling out the broken bolts was a pain. In comparison, the other side was easy.

I did remove the calipers, and did the drilling on a bench top drill press. It wasn't that much trouble to remove them and bleed the lines afterward, but if you aren't drilling out broken bolts, I don't see why you couldn't drill by hand on the car. You just need to make sure you drill and tap reasonably straight.

Hope this helps.

An alternative option to anyone whom this happens to. Rock auto has reman calipers for $40 a side after core charge. Consider that you'll have to change your dust boots/seals soon from a safety aspect. Rebuild kits alone are $30 a side.

My turn to deal with this!
Driver's side was fine. Passenger side not so much! Will go the helicoil route with mine as new calipers just don't make sense with the car at this mileage.
My local Honda/Acura Indy said he doesn't do helicoils into aluminum. Reminded him he helicoiled a stripped spark plug hole in my aluminum head 3-4 years ago. He hasn't texted back......

FYI, I just pulled my front passenger Brembo caliper to change out a wheel stud. No issues whatsoever with the caliper bolts !!

It's been ~7 years and 150K miles since I last touched those bolts...

Yep, and same pads (Racing Brake RT300) for ~200K miles (and they're just over half worn). Lot of highway miles....

^^^^ Correction. RB ET300s were installed at 63K, so they have 203K miles on them.

Rotors were changed out at 114K, so they have 157K on them....
