Brembo Front Caliper Bolt Torque

Hi, guys,

After getting a stripped thread, I decide to replace one caliper just for safety concern.

The service manual states that the caliper bolt torque for the front brembo is 125 ft lb, which is way too high. And that's probably the reason to damage the brembo threads

I have read in some other STI forum that STI user normally put 80 ft lb.

Just wanna learn from you guys how much torque you guys put on the caliper bolt for the front brembos.

I follow the Service Manual. I figure the engineers at Brembo and Acura are a more trustworthy source than some posts in a forum by random 'car guys'.

OTOH, I sometimes listen to the 'random car guys' if what they're saying makes sense to me. Go figure.

On this, they do not, IMHO.

The problem is Steel bolts vs Aluminum threads. Steel wins. IMHO.

Edit:

I also have found that it is SO easy to cross-thread those bolts when re-installing them. And that will lead to problems the next time you remove them. Make sure you've got the caliper aligned squarely and start the bolts by hand .... any resistance, stop, re-align and try again.
