Brakes dragging after 20 minute drive

Hi guys need some advice again.
I drove to work tonight and once I got off the highway my TL feels like the brakes are dragging a little. It's an 05 TL 6mt and I noticed the drag tonight when taking off from the stop light the the car didn't roll back when engaging 1st gear from a hill. I recently replaced the brake pads approximately 2 months ago and everything seemed fine. Only thing i noticed tonight is the rear brakes seemed to be giving off a lot of heat compared to the front brakes. Any clues what can be going on?

did you change the rear pads or the front?

sounds like a sticky caliper piston to me, if you changed the rear maybe you didnt twist the caliper all the way in

or if its the fronts, did you lube the glide pins and lube the friction areas where the pads slide?

nevertheless sounds like a stuck piston

I changed front and rear pads and lubed the friction areas, only thing i didn't do was lube the glide pins. I watched a U tube video on how to change the brakes and nobody lubed the glide pins.

Well I think both rear calipers are seized. Wicked vibration driving home from work this morning, heavy brake dust on both rear rims and that wonderful smell. Well at least it's not the front Brembo Calipers..lol

I had the exact same problem after I changed my rear pads. The guide pin needed caliper grease BUT, I had to remove all the existing grease from that rubber boot and inside the caliper bracket that the pin slides into.
You want to remove all that grease and then just apply some on the pin. Also, apply some grease to the caliper piston, so when you compress it to go back into the boot it lubes that area too.

this is the grease I purchased.

might be too late for the rotors now. if they're vibrating, you'll probably need new pads, rotors, and a minimum of rebuilding your calipers, though those might need to be replaced too.

Out of curiosity... how often have you flushed your brake fluid? One theory is if you don't do it frequently enough (every 2-3 years) you are more likely to have corrosion in the caliper bore/piston and more likely to seize after you push the piston back in when fitting new pads.

As for slide pins, I've seen lots of suspicion tossed around but I've never actually seen any bind on my cars. That doesn't mean they can't. My guess is you would have had a lot of trouble getting the calipers to go back over the new pads if the slides were that bad.

Another thing I think has been seen is problems with the rear brake lines/hose (flexible section near caliper) actually becoming blocked and act like a check valve. I can't find the posts, others might have the links.

Well took the rear brakes apart and drivers side caliper is seized. Slide pins were jammed solid as well as the piston was a b*tch to compress. So just picked up some new calipers and rotors but got another question now, when adjusting the parking brake do you turn the adjuster gear up to tighten?

Well I got 1 caliper installed and have to return the 2nd caliper. Stupid rebuilt calipers, I try and install the 2nd caliper and the mounting bracket does line up with the holes. Sorry had to vent a little, at least my hand brake is adjusted.
