Brake squeal on semi hard stops
I have a brake squeal comming from the front whenever I step on the brakes kinda hard. When the car slows down, or if I lighten the brakes, the squeal goes away. Last time I checked the pads, it looked good. Would this be dust? if so, how can I get rid of it?
Thanks...

what pads do you have? It could be that that shims need to have some anti-squeal stuff put on them. Also it could be your pads getting worn down and your hitting the squealers to warn you that a replacement is due soon.
If that's not the issue then it could be the pads. Friction from the brakes turns into heat energy and as well sound energy. If the rotors pads are aggressive enough or the rotors are hard enough you will max out heat energy that can be transferred and start increasing sound energy.
Enough physics! Try cleaning the pads and applying some more anti-squeal stuff to them.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'm not sure what the pads were since I haven't changed them since I got the car last year. Last time I took a look, it still had a lot of meat left.

Take your brake pads off and get some 180 grit sand paper and place it on a very flat surface. Then sand the brake pads so they are once again flat and smooth. Should take care of your squeal
