Blown headlight issue - how freakin hard can this be?

I've talked with several different shops, went to autozone, researched it on the web and I'm no closer to understanding what the heck is going on with my headlight. Amazing how clueless people are about a simple headlight.

My right side high beam and low beam are both out. Are there two different bulbs for low and high beam or is there one bulb for both? Is it just the D2S I need or another bulb as well.

No, one bulb for both high and low. To troubleshoot swap the bulbs to different sides. If the symptoms follow you'll know you have a bulb out. Replace both at the same time.

PS - this side had moisture in it for at least a year. The moisture is gone now, strangely.

Have you modded your headlights? is the seal good? Also check to ensure that the fog and turn sig/marker bulb is seated correctly.

No, all stock. I'm assuming the seal was bad as there was moisture inside the headlight encasement for at least a year, but oddly, I have no more moisture in there for the past 6 months.

Its a pain in the ass changing those bulbs. Well at least if you have an intake on, I don't remember the passanger side being too difficult

Hate headlight change with these vehicles

So freaking hard to get to these headlights, you gotta remove the entire bumper, which is a pain in the fucking ass just to remove and replace a headlight bulb. You’re looking at about $300. If you have somebody else like a machanic change it for you if you do it yourself then you obviously do it for free for the cost of a lightbulb🤷🏻‍♂️ good luck people

It's possible to replace just the bulb (yes one bulb for both low and high). You can replace the bulb without doing removing the bumper, but it is incredibly difficult. If it is just the bulb, then the passenger side is much easier to do than the driver side. The driver side felt nearly impossible to replace without removing the bumper.

Yes it is just the D2S HID.

If your car headlights have not been replaced ever, it's possible either the ballast or igniter could be the problem. My ballast went out on the passenger side after 19 years.

If you are going to do this work, and plan on keeping the car around, the best thing to do is pull the bumper, and replace everything while you are at it. I'd replace both ballast & works on both sides. Pulling the bumper on the TL does not take that much time. It's not worth the effort of replacing the bulb, then having the ballast going out in a few months.
