Blinking/flashing D light + check engine light. Cool story inside
I was driving to work this morning, about a mile of driving, the "D" light starts flashing and check engine light came on. I'm thinking "BYE BYE TRANNY!!", but the car was running completely fine. This is also a 2007, which is odd for their trannys to go. I might be wrong. Anyways, I have 141k miles and have not done a tranny fluid change in over 30k miles and that was a 1x3 fluid change at Honda. Although, I DID change my 3rd & 4th gear switches a few months ago. So, I decided to hit up the fuckeryship...
I just came back from a diagnoses at Acura. It threw a "P1717" code, trans range switch ATP RVS open. They cleared the code and it has not come back on since. The car is running fine. They said that it was most likely a "switch glitch" and that if there was a major issue with it, the code would come back on immediately. Does this sound somewhat right?
Acura also updated the "PCM from DAA830 to DAA850". Other than highly improved MPG, I am clueless to what else got updated...

I just had this error pop up on me yesterday. I was thinking all kinds of things, but like I do with every issue I run into, I did a quick search on here before I did anything. I found this thread saying it's probably just a glitch, and sure enough, when I started the car back up, the D light wasn't flashing anymore (the car was still running fine from the beginning). I went to a Jiffy Lube to have them clear the code and all has been well. This seems to be the only thread addressing this code, so thank you.

Far from area of expertise, but found this on the net:
The p1717 code sets when the circuit in the transmission range switch is sensed to be open while the transmission is mechanically shifted into reverse, this can happen a couple ways, either a faulty range switch, improper adjustment of the range switch, a broken wire in the circuit, or a faulty pcm. Most find that the switch is out of adjustment since you can get it started by moving the shifter, so what's happening is the switch is between positions when you're in gear, so you may be able to turn the switch to better line up with the shifter positions and solve the issue. The range switch is located on the side of the transmission, you should be able to access it through the driver's side wheel well, it'll have 2 bolts holding it to the transmission, if you loosen them you can reorient the switch, what you'll want to do is try reorienting it then checking if the transmission position on the dash switches on the dash when you switch gears, if it seems to be off try again until it's switch position at the same time it's actually switching positions.

Same thing happened
Same thing happend with my 04 TL. Flashing light started and check engine came on... I parked the car and when i turned it on the green light stopped flashing but the check engine didnt go away.. my car is barely hitting 96k miles, so i'm really hoping its not tranny issues.

Definitely get the code read. AutoZone or Advanced Auto can read the code for free and then you will know where to go from there and what code to search the forums for.
I was told the other day by a guy who had worked at an Acura dealer for 15+ years that Honda/Acura never started having transmission issues until they changed the tranny fluid service interval from 15k. I plan on doing mine every 15k.

Once you get the code read, report back with what it was and we can help ya out some more.
