Hi,
I have a 2006 tl with 165k km.
I just got the car recently and the d light started to flash.
I got the codes p0700 and p0713.
The transmission shifts fine and the drive is normal.
I am not sure what to do,
any help would be appreciated.

Check your transmission senors and the pressure switches.

 

700 means trans problem (generic) and 713 means that the fluid got very hot or the temp sensor is bad. Check the fluid, it should be pinkish red! If it's brown, it might be time for new fluid and filter at a minimum!

 

IMO: If, as you state, the transmission shifts well, two obvious possibilities exist, 1. the fluid, was over-heated, at some point, and needs to be examined, and or changed, immediately! Probably a good idea, to change the filter, as well. 2. The temperature sensor, or it's circuit, has an issue, and needs to be addressed. Checking the fluid, level, and condition, is critical. A low fluid level, can cause added stress, to the transmission, by overheating the fluid.

 

My 2004 TL did the same but started flashing on start up, added ATF and it stopped. Couple days later, after driving 200+ miles.flashing again on start up, added ATF & it stopped ???..

the transmission oil yes.. the transmission itself no. I only have basic knowledge of cars.

 

anything specific that I should check for in the transmission? I know which part it is. I just don't know what to check!

 

What did the fluid look like? What did the level look like?

still not dirty and still not past the second mark. I'll check it again to make sure...
