Is it the battery or the wiring or both
Is it the battery or the wiring or both
I have an Acura TL 2004 and lastnight it wouldn't start tried to get a jump lights came on but it wouldn't turn over heard the clicks but before he could even hook it to his battery my lights came on so o was confused that once it was hooked to his car that it wouldn't turn over. Not sure what to buy first but those wires being exposed I know I have to do that I just pray it's nothing major any ideas.
Def wiring. Not enough of those wires are making contacts with the terminal so not enough current is flowing to starter, thus hearing that clicking noise. This wear seems to be some king of force because if it were anything else, those wires would be corroded/rusted/oxydized, which they are not and look perfect to me.
That looks like a replacement non-OEM battery clamp, so the original was probably replaced for corrosion. I'd feel along the positive battery cable to see if the corrosion (the white powdery spots in the cable strands) is further within the cable; if so, the cable will need to be replaced.
Also check the negative clamp for tightness-- it's been known to get loose frequently.
Finally, how old is the battery? If the answer is 3 years or more, I'd start with a new battery-- a completely dead battery is difficult to jump.
