Battery Drain
Battery Drain
My son has an '07 TL and we are measuring just shy of 4-Amp current draw on the battery. I've isolated it to under-hood 40A fuse #15 which looks like it powers most of the internal accessories. This fuse powers under-dash fuses #5 thru #9 and under-hood fuse #7.
I am not measuring any draw through under-hood fuse #7 and a normal mA draw for the radio and interior lights through under-dash fuses 5 & 6.
Any thoughts?
Merry Christmas!!

HFL disconnected. Getting the console released was stressful since I didn't know if it had a latch I was about to break. The Acura dealer quoted my son $125 just to disable the HFL...
Current draw after all the electronics boot up is down to 400 mA. Does anyone now what the normal range is?

This is good info. I had bad battery about a month ago (even after jump and drive around 30+ minutes), the battery would die after overnight. Battery was only 4 years old of Acura OEM.
One thing to note is that my HFL module is dead (when pressing OK at the HFL menu, it says "BOOTING UP" and never completes). So, I assume the partial reason for dead battery dying was because of HFL. I'm not paying 100+ just for the module. So, I'm keeping it disconnected for now (it's only a commuter for me anyways).

Hi, I'm new to the community and having a problem with my battery being drain.I have a 2006 tl and have had this problem for a while. Had the battery replaced and it was working fine for a couple of months. Once in happened to me again I took it in to the dealership and they said it was the HFL. I had it fixed. It was working for a couple of moths and just today after after I had drove the car last night, the battery was dead. It sucks because I really love my car and don't want to sell it but Its looking like I can't find the problem.

You can also buy a new one from eBay or a Acura junkyard, the install is pretty easy and there are YouTube videos of the removal.
Try to use the HFL ( Bluetooth ) and see if is still working. If you can live without it I would disconnected it, assuming it is not working properly. There is also a thread about baking the HFL electronics, which has fixed it for some. Google "HFL baking acurazine" or something like DIY HFL fix to find the thread.

Thank You hi speed for the info. I had the HFL unplugged a couple months ago because it kept draining the battery. At the dealership they where trying to charge me 400 to replace it, so I just decided to have it disconnected since I really did no use it. I'm gonna look into the other thing you mention there, see if that would help me because I'm getting kinda frustrated with this problem.

You said you had the dealership disconnect the HFL? Is it a shady dealership? Because they sure as hell could have just told you it was disconnected, and there'd be no way for you to tell (since it was already not functioning) besides going in there yourself and checking.
Just YouTube Acura HFL disconnect and they will show you how to do it. It's very very simple. Other than that, if it isn't the HFL just find a good independent shop to diagnose the problem. I wouldn't trust the dealership unless you have a really good relationship with them. Either way they're in it to gouge you.
My son's 2007 TL w Navi is experiencing the same issue as the OP. It's drawing around 0.72 amps. I pulled fuse #15 (back up ACC) under hood, re-test, the horn honks when i reconnect the multimeter, amps drop to zero. Is the horn sounding off normal? I will try to disconnect the HFL next. Thanks for all the help.
