I have an '06 TL. I have noticed when first driving it (within the first 20 minutes of driving) that it is slightly sluggish when accelerating. The more noticeably pronounced problem in the same time frame is when I take my foot off the gas when approaching a stoplight, decelerating from 40mph or so. It's intermittent, but more often than not. (about 60% of the time) When the automatic downshifts from the gear it is in, it is a bit harsh. Almost like I'm applying the brake to slow down. I have had passengers in my car notice it. I have driven two other friend's TL's. Theirs do not have this problem. One of them is an '04 with about 35K on it. Mine only has 7500 miles total, and I was gentle with it during the break in period. I took it in for service and was told "we can't replicate it". I don't think they checked anything else. Any thoughts? I know I'm not nuts my passengers have felt this too.

 

It's normal. Do a search. It will be more pronounced on a slight downhill grade.

 

That weird downshifting is normal in my 07 TL-S. But wow, you actually are experiencing the same sluggish acceleration like me too! I notice that if I'm going at slow speed speed (under 30 mph) and I slooooowly apply the gas pedal, the car feels like the RPMs move up but the car doesnt go anywhere, then after one second of this, the car accelerates like normal again.
