Apparently my TL gets wrinkles as it ages... does yours? *PICS included*
So about a year or two ago, I noticed that the little black vertical piece in the rear driver-side window was starting to ... uhhh... wrinkle. I thought that it was odd since there has never been any work done in that part of the vehicle, but at the same time I just figured it was just a rare anomaly and chalked it up to bad luck that I got the defective part on my car.
But today I noticed that the exact same piece on the passenger-side is doing this as well. So I am now curious... Is any one else's car wrinking this way?
Driver's side:

Passenger's side:

Also, what would it take to replace this piece? I imagine this shouldn't be all that difficult, but I'm not certain how this comes apart.

My trim bubbled up on the lower area's and acura replaced it. It shouldn't be that hard to replace, I'll dig up my service manual and see how to do it and post it.

the reson the paint bubbles has to do with the peices getting contaminated during production. just replace them.

Agreed. Some sort of manufacturing flaw. A little contamination under the wrap and years later it starts bubbling.
But that's exactly my point. If this is happening to both of mine, then surely this is happening to others. This wasn't just a one off flawed piece. Unless I got really unlucky and ended up with the only two poorly manufactured parts.

You should be able to buy that part from the dealer. Its like a big sticker. You will have to pull the old ones off, would be best to remove window track moldings. Be sure you have the surface clean before you apply the new one. Otherwise you will see dirt and whatnot under it.

Mine does the same thing and the rear passenger door behind the driver but on the horizontal part. It wasn't as wrinkly as yours but i just got some crazy glue for now and will see if that helps.

So I confirmed with the dealer that it's parts 3 and 10 (sash) from diagram. The door panel needs to come off to replace it. Sounds like a little bit of a pain, but I think I might do this. I can handle taking off a door panel I suppose.

Do you park outside or in extreme weather ?? Just a question...
That should not happen, is it the whole plastic piece or just the "coating" on plastic ?
Damn, that is BS
