Anyone install aftermark/EBAY HID in a 3G TL?

Hello,

Found out that both my ballast on my 04 are bad and need replacing. Just curious if anyone ever installed aftermarket HID kit on their TL?

Reason why I ask is because its more cost effective if I buy a whole new kit vs. buying two new OEM ballast.

thanks in advance,

James

I'm pretty sure you can use any D2S ballast, but wait for someone else to confirm.

I do know that you shouldn't replace your OEM Philips 85122+ bulbs with cheap aftermarket HID bulbs. So if you don't buy a quality kit, use your original bulbs. If there's a ton of hours/years on them, I would consider replacing them.

what ever u do dont buy that cheap hid kit. acura come with nice oem hids stock..are you positive its your ballast and not the bulb...either way you can get a new bulb on ebay for 50..or a used ballast for 50-60. fix it right..not china crap.

you can try swapping out the ballast to test if its the ballast or swapping the bulbs to test to make sure. if its the bulb just order from sites then ebay.
I ordered from here before and bulbs still holding up after 4-5 years.

I agree with not buying a cheap ass kit. I have also not done this. But what I do know that if you do not use OEM ballasts then you will have to relocate them as the oem are under the headlight housing.

I have replaced my housings and swapped over my oem ballasts. It is not a huge deal and I remember reading a few members swapping to 55W HID setups. It can be done.

If you can find OEM, I would do that. Personally.
