Any easy way to separate axle from intermediate shaft?

I didn't realize how spoiled I was having access to a shop, working on the ground with basic hand tools sucks. Anyway changing my axles got the drivers side done no problem once I figured out how to get the ball joint lose. Drivers side is all apart and I can't get the axle to separate from the intermediate shaft, any tricks? normally I would use a big pry bar but no clearance without a lift I tried a smaller pry bar and my foot but couldn't get it to budge ended up breaking the plastic handle on my pry bar and chipping a small place on the axle. Next I was thinking maybe a big a$$ hammer and a punch or something.

Put a long drift on the motor side of the inboard joint and drive it off the intermediate shaft.

A while back I had a Maxima that I couldn't get the bearing out of the hanger, resorted to some heat and it came right out. When going back together use some neverseize.

you mean passenger side is all apart right?

agh Do tell when/how you get it off. My passenger axle is clicking/creaking and I want to get it replaced soon. Another thing i'm afraid of is working on that ball joint.

no drivers side is done, passenger side it currently screwing me. Mechanic buddy says he normally uses the BFH but he gets to use a lift so it's going to be fun.

You can rent a FWD axle puller 27058 & slide hammer 27033 from Autozone for free:

I use a cold chisel & hammer, use the taper on the chisel & drive it between the spt. brg. & axle, pops loose fairly easy.

BFH and short prybar with no handle did the job. Was just as much fun getting the new one back in. I love my TL but really miss the ease of working on my civic or integra.
