AntiFreeze and Coolant
AntiFreeze and Coolant
Does anyone know if it is ok to use "Prestone All Makes/Models antifreeze coolant" in our 2004~2008 Acura TL?
The antifreeze we have comes blue. If we are doing a complete flush, do we have to use the blue ones by Honda/Acura dealership or we can use the GREEN color Prestone All Makes and Models?"

There's been debate. Some think you should stick with OE others say as long as you do a complete flush you are OK.

Try "site:https://acurazine.com/ coolant antifreeze" in Google and that will get you plenty of hits.

Stick with OE. The stock Acura fluid has no silicates and the phosphorus and other elements has to be balanced. The number one problem when going with an aftermarket fluid is leaking water pumps. Just not worth it to save a couple bucks.
I'm a big believer in deviating from OEM fluids when you can. After lots of research I use non recommended Amsoil ATD in the trans and synthetic powersteering fluid which is also not recommended. But when I was looking at coolant I came up with two conclusions.
The stock stuff is great.
Anything else opens up the potential for leaks and metal corrosion.

All DOT brake fluid is synthetic and always has been. Valvoline and others that market theirs as synthetic are just playing on the fact that most people don't know that all brake fluids are synthetic. This is the reason I would go with the cheapest fluid that met my specs.
