Another tranny bites the dust.
2004 NBP 87,000 miles, regularly maintained.
So I took my car to Acura cause I was having some weird slipping of gears from 2nd to 3rd and really hard shifts into reverse. Long story short they say it needs to be replaced. My certified 7yr 100,000 mile warranty expired in June so they will goodwill 80% of the $4300 tranny leaving me with around $800-$900 to cover. Not too bad I guess. Then they say one of my motor mounts in broken...another $245..FML. Just get a call today saying that somebody or something dented my right front fender during the repairs and it's going to be another week in the body shop!! Jesus Christ!!
Do you think I should ask for a discount on the price of the services for the inconvenience or just accept that shit happens? Maybe a free air freshener

As far as maintenance goes just the standard stuff as recommended by my dealer, certainly not everything I've been reading lately....multiple 3x3...flushes, etc.. I agree I was out of warranty so they owe me nothing, but it was by time not by mileage so who knows.

IF your transmission had not failed, you would have paid nothing and owned a 7 year old 84k system. For $800-900 you are getting a brand new system with zero years and miles. This is one of the two major components of the drivetrain (the other being the engine). IMO, that's a good trade.
In respect to the fender damage and delay ... they should spot you the rental car fees, if you have been using one, or the approximate equivalent in future service credit. That leaves them with little to no out of pocket and you will something for the trouble ... or at least equal compensation. They are taking full responsibility for it and they got you 80% on a goodwill transmission replacement. Sounds like a good dealership.

Thanks everyone....I feel the same. They have been nothing but nice and up front about every issue, including the damage. I'm just going to chalk it up with shit happens and move on. Always reverse the roles and ask yourself where you would be in that situation... Thanks for the input!!
