Airbag question

Why didn't Acura make the TL's airbag separate ? What i mean is why is it built into the whole dash ? Every car i've ever driven all had the separate oval-shaped airbag panel on the dash. On this car if the passenger airbag goes off you have to replace the whole damn dash ! It's ridiculous.

i enjoy the seamless look and I'm assuming that's what the designers were going for. a seamless non-oval look and feel

It's easy to say that now while everything is going good for you. I guarantee your tune would change if you were in a crash where you were going just fast enough to set that bag off. Than it hits you that you're going to have to pay up BIG TIME to replace the whole dash. When it probably would have been 70-80% cheaper if it had a panel.

Not at all. I'm just going off all the youtube videos i've watched over the years of people replacing dashes in various vehicles. IT'S A LOT OF WORK !!! So you know it's not cheap. Can you imagine what it would cost to have a dealer do it. My point is what if your car wasn't that badly damaged in an accident but now you have this on top of it.

this is what insurance is for.
I have a $500.00 deductible for full coverage.
So, no. I will not have to pay big time

Sorry to say the location of the airbag is where most dash cracks start
