A friend was in my car and asked me where the passenger airbag comes out of the dash... Its a good question. There is no outline for the airbag like most cars have... I was thinking maybe inbetween the top of the dash and the glove box, where the chrome strip is? Does anybody know where it comes out?

I am not absolutely sure of this, but I think the airbag comes ripping through the top of the dash above the glove box. Airbag deployment is a pretty destructive process and somewhat scarey, too.

I hate that design, it seems TL'rs have to replace the whole dashboard after that airbag blows.

Rets, it's not only TLrs that are faced with that. My airbags deployed in my 1995 Ford Windstar van when I hit a deer. $1000 damage to the exterior and $3000 for the two airbags, steering wheel, dash, and misc interior pieces. Very expensive venison.

I know lots of cars do the same design/setup. This did really bother me when I saw it in Sep. 03. Just drive carefully...

Acura says:

Superior interior fit and finish, including a "seamless" instrument panel cover that conceals the passenger SRS airbag lid

To ensure uniform fit and perfect seams, the perforated leather-trimmed seating is now sewn on automated machines. For a more integrated appearance, the TL uses a type of "slush molded" instrument panel covering that completely conceals the passenger-side SRS airbag. Almost everywhere you look, soft materials and satin finishes are used in places the driver or a passenger are likely to touch, including soft-touch interior door grab handles, padded door armrests, leather center console, leather fold-down rear armrest, and the leather wrapped steering wheel.

LOL the way you said that statement following the deers makes it sound like your mom actually hit an old guy... not his car.

Fricken old guys, lol.

Yes those airbags come tearing through the dash. Usually the windshield breaks when they deploy as well (at least from what I have seen on some fords, nissans, dodges). Makes for an expensive repair....but hey, we get that smooth dash with that weird white residue on it...whats not to love about that to make it worth it?

I don't think it is that bad. It looks alot better than my 97 accord where the passanger airbag thing sticks out. And u really shouldn't have to worry about this unless you are one of the unlucky few who get in a bad wreck
