Advice on my newly financed 06 TL..engine question
So im a first timer, just purchased an 06 TL, loaded, with 63k. It sometimes runs rough in the morning when i start it, i dont thnk this anything to do with the self abs test, because it is still in park idling when this occurs. I was wondering also if a maintenance/50k+ checkup is required. Should i have it looked at being that is on almost 64k? What does this car call for? ty
As the members above said, the ULEV system sometimes uses an intentional misfire to warm up the engine more quickly and minimize emissions.
Maintenance normally is dependent on the Maintenance Minder codes that appear in the MID (see the owner's manual "maintenance" pages for the codes; the 3G Garage has a link to the on-line manuals).
However, at 60+K on a used TL for which there are no maintenance records, I would change out the brake fluid, the transmission fluid if it's an auto transmission and the cabin air filter (the Maintenance Minder addresses all those, but the codes could have already come up and been reset before you got the car, or the codes may show up shortly).

I have an 06 with about 42K on it.
Mine is a little rough on start up until warm but its not anything I "feel" is abnormal. Yours may be a little worse but not really meaning its something bad.
I would do like Will Y. said, get an oil change, change tranny fluid, engy and cabin filter and maybe break fluid if breaks have not been done recent.
Than maybe get some Seafoam and to make sure the tank is clean and also you can do the intake with the seafoam.
Their is a nice long but good thread posted here with walkthroughs on how to do it.
Everyone has said car runs MUCH smoother after using it.
Previous owner may have cheaped out a few times on gas which left some nasty left overs in the engy on ya, but nothing I wouldn't think you can clean yourself with seafoam and fluid changes.

this is totally normal, i have an 06 with 63k miles and it does the same thing. if it seems like its shaking "too" much then i would have it looked at, but if it just seems bit rougher than normal i wouldnt worry. i would suggest a 3+3 trans service(where they drain and refill 3 times, but avoid the flush offered at cheaper places), maybe a brake fluid change, and of course an oil change and filter changes and you should be all set. good luck with the new ride, you will not be disappointed
He's somehow hilarious and entertaining yet annoying and hated all put together.
Enjoy the TL and stay on the board. Azine is an awesome resource. There are many members here who know these cars inside & out and you'll get some great advice as well..... with a little sarcasm.

As everyone has already said, the misfire is to introduce raw fuel into the cats to light them off quicker.
Depending on how bad it is, you can check your mounts. I had mine replaced due to a small accident, didn't know there was anything wrong with the old ones but with the new ones, the cold idle was so much smoother inside of the car.
now i know ill just let it do its thing...
