Acura TL 6 Speed problem
Acura TL 6 Speed problem
Hi, just today I noticed there is a problem with my vehicle. It has 22k miles on it, and it's regularly maintained. I think it is a transmission problem.
When i first got in the car, i have it in first with the clutch depressed, and you can hear this loud whirring noise from the driver's seat. Later that day, the same sound can be heard when i have it in second and have the clutch depressed. The sound does not go away even if the clutch is disengaged, it only gets louder with more revs. It sounds like its coming from directly in front of the driver's seat. As i was driving home, i think the clutch may have given up, since it grinded second and it wouldn't shift into any other gear until i pulled over and turned off the ignition. Only with great difficulty was i able to shift it into second.
I had my brother sit in the driver's seat, and i tried to listen with the hood open, the sound seemed to come from the block itself, right where the intake tubing meets the block. Anyways, thanks for your help.

Under Warranty?
Have it taken to the dealer.
There is probably something wrong with the clutch.
They might try to tell you it's on your dime, since the clutch is a wearout item.
But, it shouldn't make whirring noises, even if worn out.
22k is way early to wear out, too.
Post back what happens.
