Acura TL 2006 Starter Issues (?)

Last night I tried turning on my car and it wouldn’t start. I can turn my key and the lights turn on, on my dash but they flicker really fast and theres a sound coming from the dash area making a struggling type noise. I checked my battery and it’s all good. I just put a new starter in 7 months ago, I’ve been having trouble with my car starting when I put the key in for a while now. If I take my car for an oil change the mechanics always have to ask me to get the car started for them. I have to turn the wheel, foot on the brake and when I put the key in I have to turn it really fast. Sometimes I have to try several times before my car turns on. Could this be my ignition??

To thoiboi's point: if the battery tested as OK, how are the battery cable connections. I can't tell you the number of starting/electrical issues I've had just because the terminal connections weren't 100% solid. Rather than replace the battery cables or clamps, I put battery post shims in a couple of my TL's, torqued the clamps nice and tight, and haven't had any issues from it since.

my last starter was acting like a bad battery. It slowly got harder and harder to start... just like the battery was dying. So i replaced the battery and I still had a problem. So I replaced the starter and that was the problem! Since my battery was getting old, I kept my new battery too. I hate being stranded. But I will say in cold weather, batteries take a hit! Especially if the car has been sitting for a few days in cold temps. even now with a "new starter" (not rebuilt) , my engine turned a lot slower after sitting for 2 days with low temps at night in the 20's. But my car sits in the garage. So it was probably 30 something in the garge over night.. And it made may car hardER to start. It started on the first crank.. but it just turned slower. Sometimes it is hard to tell if it is a battery or a starter. The starter motor can begin to suck more power to turn.. And it can act like a dead battery is not providing enough power.

Where did you get your starter from (7 months ago)

Ignition

It could be your ignition the plastic circle with teeth could be going bad just changed mine and fixed everything. If you hear spinning but no cranking than it’s that for sure. Just goto a junkyard and buy the ignition and replace the piece and try to return it back to them that’s what I did. Good luck

This thread describes a long journey but ultimately it was the ignition - https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-p...start-1009191/

I have had this problem where the starter don’t start. Usually I have to just turn the key several times until it catches. Think it’s a bad solenoid but I have run like this for years and that solution has worked every time
