AC Question
AC Question
I recently had an electrical burning smell while driving it came and went pretty fast and I didn't notice mechanical problems but when I got home I noticed the ac compressor wasn't engaging. I checked all of the fuses and they looked good. I thought I remembered reading something a long time ago about something under the dash maybe on the passenger side that would burn out and cause the AC to stop working but couldn't find it.
if I turn on the ac the engine will idle down for a second like it's trying to engage the system but the compressor never engages.
does anyone have any ideas or is it just time to replace the compressor?
TIA

Check if compressor clutch gets power. It it does and don't engage, you need coil and or new clutch, or whole new compressor.
You can visually check if clutch is engaged, as middle portion of the A/C compressor's pulley will either be stationary or spin together with outer part.
