Ac doesnt work at idle

2006 with 57K miles. Recently noticed that the AC stops working when idling.
The compressor cycles on them immediately off again, short cycling I believe which renders the AC almost useless at idle. The AC fan engages when the compressor engages but both shut down and start and shut down at idle.

If I drive at freeway speeds everything seems fine. I checked the freon and it seemed to be ok.

My question is, has anyone else experienced this issue? Any advise on where to start would be appreciated. Its over 90F here in Florida.

Do both engine fans need to come on when the AC is turned on?

My condensor AC fan on drivers side only comes on when AC is on. The engine fan doesnt come on.

low on freon - check pressures to be sure.

Ran some more tests. The engine cooling fan on driver side is not coming on when I have the AC on. I believe this is causing the issue of the AC not working at idle - short cycling condenser .

Yup, that would do it. As soon as you start driving and pushing some air thru the radiators, the system begins to see normal pressures and cools the cabin.
Now to fix the fan ...

Indeed. The motor itself costs about $157 from Bernardi Acura. I decided to purchase a non genuine complete fan assembly for $76 inc shipping.
I took it all appart was pretty straightforward after removing plastic trim around the hood latch and the metal ground piece next to battery on slam panel.
