AC causing "Whoooooo" Sound

I noticed when my AC is on in my 07 TL AT, during a moderately to super hot day, and I hit the accelerator in certain circumstances, a low "whoooooo" sound eminates from what I believe is the left front side of the car. I know it's the AC because when I manually turn the AC off, the sound completely disappears.

Could this be the AC compressor having to work extra hard on a hot day? Anyone else experience this problem? I'm thinking of taking to the dealer, but want to make sure the behavior is not normal first. Thanks!

is it high pitched or low, if it high, try seeing if you turn off the recycle air that it goes away. Also see if you lower a rear window so air can pass thru and do it, this will tell if there is a pressure problem.

Well the a/c compressor is on the right side of the engine bay, and you believe that the sound is coming from the left side....

Well, I'm not totally sure it's coming from the left side. Could just be my perception.

The sound is more low then high, I'd probably describe it as mid-range.

I'll try the air recycler and rear windows, thanks for the tip. Will report back...

That happens to me when that Gwen Stefani song comes on .. "woooo ooooo... eeeeee ooooo"

As mentioned above I would try turning recirc. on and see if the issue disappears. It sounds like it might be the right combination of outside wind speeds / vehicle speed / air pressure inside the car to cause a wind noise.

90% of the time that noise is caused by the expansion valve

So is that a fairly easy fix for the dealer to make? Could I do adjust it myself?

i think i have a similar issue...my ac makes a whistling or hissing type of sound esp when it is on low. and sometimes it get's louder as i accelerate, and sometimes it doesn't make a noise at all. i took it to the dealer today and told me it's the expansion valve noise and that's it's normal. i don't buy it though. if it keeps making this noise after another 1k miles, i'm gonna take it in again or go to another dealer. i have a 2007 with 2k miles and it's made that noise since i bought it.
