AC blower fan problem (video inside)

The problem I have with my TL is when I turn on my AC my blower fan in the engine turn off and on in a matter of seconds. My rpms fluctuate when the fans do that. Is it normal or should it be taken care at the dealer?

I attached a short video explaining my problem.

Not really, but when I say the rpms fluctuate, it only moves at 800-950.

The fans that you speak of are electronic fans and turn on and off as necessary. It is completely normal for them to act that way. The rpm difference you speak of is due to the increase of power demand. I have the same thing going on, took it into an indy, and its normal. ac system was blowing out air that was in the 50's temp wise.

Thanks for your help. I need more input before I take it to the dealer. The AC takes awhile to reach cold but the day I took the video it was 93f outside.

Or should I just pay the dealer to refill and flush the AC system and change out the old freon?

The fans are supposed to cycle. My AC fan cycles with the AC compressor. I believe the other fan runs all the time when the AC is on but not 100% on that. It was hard to tell by the video but they should come on for at least a few seconds before shutting off. Like I said, it's hard to see from the video but from what I can tell, mine stays on a little longer. There are other factors that will influence this but if this was a 90+ degree day, that fan should be running for quite some time.

The other issue may be low freon causing the low pressure shut off to kick in to save the compressor from a lack of lube.

A friend that works at an AC shop charged mine and said all Hondas he has seen are undercharged. He evacuated my system and added 1/10th lb extra. It worked better than new after that. Mine had not degraded since new, it never worked well in the first place.

... reason why those fans cycle on/off more than usual is low freon. yes both fans come on when ac is turned on.
low freon=constant ac compressor cycling which means constant cycling of your fans.
...no the cycling of your fans in the video is NOT NORMAL.
you have an ac leak.

if you do that, you'll have the same problem in the near future. pay them the check out time to see where the leak is coming from. fix it right the first time

Maybe his freon is just used up and needs to be changed...

Sorry, I had to say that. I had an argument with a guy a long time ago about freon "wearing out" lol. Some people think it "wears" and some think it gets consumed during use...
