A14 service AND check engine light - Help requested

A14 service AND check engine light
I am due for my A14 service, car is at 106k miles.

The service light has been on the MID for just shy of 1 week. The MID still displays "service soon" and not "service now"

Today my check engine light came on in the speedometer. Has anyone else has this warning light come on with the A14 service soon indicator or is this most likely a completely separate problem? Car has never had an issue to date.

I checked that the gas cap was tight. I also drove through a decent sized puddle this morning... big, but not huge.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Did the CEL come back on today? If so, then take the car to an auto parts store and borrow a code reader. Post back what the codes say.

Do you have a cold air intake?

My 2004 did not put up CEL when I needed my 105K service done.

It came on again this morning, when I ran an errand, then turned off on the way to work. Has not come back on yet. Odd.

I am ordering parts for the 105k mile tune-up. My mechanic said he would run codes when I brought it in.

The CEL does not come on in conjunction with the A14 light.

If it was the gas cap, you should have also received a message on the MID "Check fuel cap" (3 clicks to tighten the cap).

You haven't answered the question: Do you have a cold air intake? Any mods? Any work done on the car in the last few days?

The PCM monitors the error messages and sometimes will turn off the CEL if the condition is intermittent. Sometimes spurious CELs happen and never show up again. I'd still see what the code is.

You can drive to any auto parts store and they'll check your codes for free.

That was short lived. CEL back on for the commute home.

Car is stock, no engine mods. No work done recently.

Thanks for the advice. Will try to get codes from auto part store and report back.
