6MT Clutch issues - Master/Slave Cylinder

Hey guys, i have a 2005 6mt with 265K miles. Starting around 240K miles, I was having issues with my clutch. If i'm at a redlight and keep the clutch down for more than 5 seconds, I'm unable to shift into gear, and need to let up and pump the clutch a couple times. If I don't hold the clutch down, this does not happen. I have no issues getting into gear once i'm driving. My mechanic flushed fluid and replaced with the GM syncromesh, and replaced the Slave Cylinder. Problem was not resolved, but I've been dealing with it. It's been 25K miles since I had brought it in, and it has not gotten better or worse. Anyone experience anything like this? The simple answer is to replace the Master Cylinder, which I will most likely do....However, I would think that there'd be fluid leaking if it was a bad master cylinder. I'm not leaking any fluid. I bought the car at 172K miles and I have not replaced the clutch, and not sure if the clutch was replaced before me.....I don't believe it's a bad clutch, especially since this issue has been going on for over 25K miles, and it does not slip at all.

Any ideas??? Thanks everyone!

Check the clutch pedal. Mine was recently found to have torn metal at its base which randomly made shifting into gear a pain in the ass.
Betchya that's it! It's a dealer specific part, so don't bother searching for it anyplace else.

If you do have to replace the master cylinder, go on ebaY and search for the OEM brand, Nissin rather than the aftermarket replacements.

I remember when my clutch bracket snapped in my 06.
if you stick your head under the dash and see it's not wobbling, then mostly likely the master cylinder.

Hey man, I JUST had this problem and replaced the slave and master both with success. Changing the master is a PITA, but it fixed the issue.

I too believe it’s your MC.

I had similar issue and also did the slave first. While replacing the slave I noticed there was very little to no brake fluid coming out of the opened hydraulic system. The master blew its internal diaphragm/seals and wouldn’t produce steady pressure without building it up.

I also had to replace my master cylinder. Similar issue, had to pump the clutch to shift into gear, no external leaks, new slave cylinder didn't fix it.

When the master cylinder goes bad the fluid leaks past the piston, not necessarily out of the system. Mine is starting to do that, but it isn't too bad yet. It looks like a total PITA to replace, I'm thinking I'll take the $$$$$ hit and pass this one off to a shop.

Good move! It takes Paul, our star master Honda/Acura mechanic here in Nawth Jerzy, about 3-4 hours. Watching him replace mine made me queazy with all the work involved just getting to it. Again, go for the OEM Nissin brand rather than aftermarket.

master cyl ftw. i recently had my 07tls line pressure go from functional, to dead pedal in a couple days. had already done the slave earlier. no external leaks and bleeding didn't help because the master wasn't making any pressure. anyways, went with oem master after seeing several complaints of limited life on aftermarket. it is a pain, to reach as others have said.
