3 recent problems - any fixes?

My recent problems:
1. Just about 2 days ago I also noticed my side mirrors weren't swivling anymore. i clicked the switch to both sides while moving from park to reverse and neither move. i tried to move them manually and the little round button will only move them right and down. the up and left directions don't do anything anymore and i know they aren't already all the way left and up.

2. Also, my rear view mirror isn't dimming the headlights anymore. the little green light doesn't come on.

3. Also, my windshield washer doesn't spray anymore. i thought it might be the fluid, so i bought a jug and only used a little before it was full. my wipers still move when i pull the "stick" to wash my windshield.

Has anyone had these problems? These all happened within a few days of each other. You'd think my warranty just went out.

I'm thinking it may be because a few blown fuses, but i haven't had the time to go out and pull them out to check. I'm taking my car in Tuesday for these problems and to see if i can get some rattles fixed. i'll let you know what i find out.

Don't take this wrong but the first thing you should have done was checked the fuses. Also you don't have to necessarily pull the fusses they make a test light that you just have to touch the ends/contacts with. Hell when you buy a thing of fuses it usually comes with it. That will tell you if a fuse is bad a lot faster.

Could be a bad motor. Have you ever run your washer dry? If so you could have burnt the motor up. Otherwise it could be something as simple as the fluid being frozen, fuse, or the motor disconnected.

Also, try disconnecting your battery for about an hour and see if that fixes the problems. Strange enough it usually does.

yeah, i went out this morning and bought a fuse tester and found the blown fuse. Everything seems to be working again. I still don't understand how a blow fuse would only mess up half of the mirror movements, instead of keeping them all from working, but i guess it doesn't matter now that they all work again.

The tester made life easier too didn't it. A lot easier then pulling each fuse that it could be.

Mine stopped working as well...I bought my car in WPB Fl. and moved to NY. Turns out that in Fl. they fill the washer fluid with water (no problems with freezing in FL)..anyhow the temps here in NY have been downright frigid for the better part of a week..
How do you de-ice this washer in temps that are below freezing during the day. don't have access to a garage at the moment? is there anything i can put in it to help de-ice? Local dealer is no help.

Thx.

My wiper fluid stopped spraying as well. I was driving to work this morning after the snowstorm and my windshiled was covered in salt water....i tried spraying but nothing came out.

Only my fluid doesn't work. My wipers work fine....mirrors work fine....could it just be that the fluid is frozen?

Add rubbing alcohol?
Once it melts, it should (although I've never tried it) be diluted enough that there won't be any risk to the paint.

I'm assuming its frozen in the lines...when i hold the "stick" back, I hear the motor working, just nothing comes out...Hopefully it will unfrezzze after driving around for a little bit...maybe the heat from the engine will warm it up

If your reservoir isnt full to the top, you could pour some boiling water in there. Of course, if your reservoir is too full, youd never be able to pour enough hot water into it to melt the frozen stuff. At that point, I think you are SOL....Either a heated garage, or remove the washer bottle..

a solution of 10 percent rubbing alcohol mixed with cleaning fluid will keep most of the commercial brand window washer fluids from freezing down to 0 degrees, below that- ummm, yeah wait for engine heat to rise

you can also wrap the washer bottle in reflectex -from hardware store-
keep cold out and heat in works good on car battery too!

I had the same problem on a trip to see my wife's family at Christmas, my washer fluid froze up and the fuse blew. I called an Acura dealer in Memphis, TN, and they wanted to replace the mirror on the driver's side, I said no thanks, and headed on down the road. I called my local dealer and they told me to check the fuses - one was blown. I replaced it, problem solved. It's a 7.5 amp fuse, and they are not easy to find unless you get to a full auto parts store. I had problems finding one and ended up using a 10 amp temporarily in its place
