Hey Acurazine,

Finished installing my new brake pads and rotors today and my mechanic took it on a test drive. I've been indicating to him for a while now that I'm paranoid my tranny will soon die. So, while taking my car for a test drive he noticed that the car will sort of jerk into second gear or sometimes he has to let off the gas pedal for the gear to move into second. Also whenever he accelerates if he has to abruptly stop it clunks as if it didn't have enough time to get into gear.
He told me I should try more fluid changes and Lucas products to prolong the life. He said right now the car is just a tiny bit slipping (hence, second gear).

Does this mean my tranny is on its way to dying? Other than second gear, the car shifts fine. Just second gear is showing problems. Sometimes when I drive, I have to let go of my gas pedal for it to shift into second.
What can I do about this guys? Please help me.
I'm strapped for cash right now and don't wanna replace the whole tranny. How long can I drive for ?
What are my options?

 

Try resetting ecu using gas pedal, i had my tranny rebuilt 2 years ago and the jerking while shifting seems to keep coming back, but resetting my ecu solves that right away, until next time at least
