2008 Acura TL-Steering "Clunking"

Hey guys, my first post on AcuraZine although I've enjoyed owning a couple of Acura TLs the past few years. My 2008 TL had the power steering hose replaced as part of the previous recall a few months ago. Lately I've noticed when moving in slow traffic every time I turn the wheel it seems a little stiff and I hear a clunking sound up front. I don't feel anything with normal speeds though. I will get it checked out but was hoping I might get a clue in this forum. Thanks in advance for any help!

Also started having this problem the other day. Also happens when I slow down so I'm thinking either engine mounts or tranny mounts. But since mine happens when I'm turning and then start driving, that it may be the steering rack and pinion. Please keep me updated. Mine is a manual, not sure what the OP has

Just in case, a little clarification, I've had many drive axles replaced on previously owned Hondas and this doesn't sound like that distinct clicking you hear when the wheels are turned, just a single clunk.

Same issue here. I replaced both axles, compliance bushings, tie rod ends, wheel bearings, still the same noise. Next I will replace the front sway bar end links and then all the ball joints, if that doesn't fix the issue, the only other thing I can think of is the rack.

my car have been making a what i would describing it as more a "clicking noise"..maybe thats just mean its not as loud what you're describing as the "clunk" noise.

but anyhow.....my situation could be same with yours. my power steering fluid pressure line leaked, so I had to replaced it last weekend. After the repair I find that there is a recall on this power steering line. My line must have leaked and I was not aware of it long enough where it has put high stress on the ball joints and put a tear in one of the boot.

So I am guessing the "clicking" noise is due to wear of the ball joints. I plan to replace the ball joints this weekend, so hopefully it will fix the clicking noise.

Anyone got any other thoughts, please share.

Thanks,

just replaced one of the ball joint, the passenger side with the tear in the boot. and that didnt fix the clicking noise, i would think if i turn the wheel one way it there would be no clicking noise, i'd dont want to replace the other side....it was such a pain!!!!

going to try and change the tie rod ends and see if that will help with the clicking noise before i will do the other ball joint...
