2007 Type S tranny question

hello all,

so my question is should a bother changing the fluid it?
is has 92600. i purchased the car with 65k the dealer said they changed the fluid then and i havent since. its been running fine (mostly) but ive noticed its been hitting kind of hard in 3rd gear now and then. then today i noticed a hint of shudder. so should i bother changing the fliud or just drive it till it gets serious? i spoke with a tranny shop i do business with and he said just to drive it, changing would just make worse.
thanks

ok so thats one says to change it. i keep seeing posts where type f is being used? should i do that as well? never had any issue with tranny not shifting hard, hell it chirps the tires from 1st to 2nd in manual mode. i like to keep the car till at least 150k or longer and keep the tranny going without rebuild.

I wouldn't switch it to Type F at this point but definitely change it out with Honda DW-1.

its always good to have fresh fluid, as fluid wears or breaks down.

Not only fluid, but the transmission switches for 3rd and 4th gear might be in order.

i would do 2 things:

1> i would switch to redline type f ATF....it doesnt break down as easy as OEM and doesnt have FM (friction modifiers) so you end up getting a smoother shift and less wear....

2> I would switch the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches...i think 07+ has two 3rd gear pressure switches....here is the link to the pressure switch DIY:

i cant ever get my tires to chirp during a shift, but thats probably because i have grippy hankook v12 tires. i think they did chirp under WOT when i had sunny sn3800 tires but i only had those for a week so i forgot

Acura, was at one point going with the GM Syncromesh tranny fluid to resolve all the 3rd gear issues. Have they switched back to a honda product, and have there been improvements made to the "DW-1"??

I've been having 3rd gear, and to a lesser degree 4th gear issues since I too (original) delivery. Multiple tranny fluid changes, and on my third gear set. When they changed the last gear set last November, had same problem (popping out of 3rd and 4th) that same day.

Am trying to learn to live with it, everything else on the car is great. A little disappointed that Acura has not seemed to yet address the root cause.

I believe his is an automatic...it uses completely different fluid than the manual...but still sucks about your trans issues...I would fight tooth and nail with Acura about that! You deserve a car that drives the way it was made to...
