2007 TL - Check Engine Light - P145C Error Code - Next Steps?
2007 Acura TL w/ 117,000 miles. The Check Engine Light came on today for the first time ever.
Went to AutoZone and their test showed Error Code P145C Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Purge Flow Malfunction.
They suggested I replace the Canister Purge Valve Solenoid, they didn't have it in stock, but said it could get here in a few days and the part is $139.99 (Duralast, Part Number PV556).
I also stopped at Advanced Auto and they said they typically don't run check engine light tests, but they would. The guy did the test and just handed me a piece of paper with 4 codes of 4-2, 61-1, P16BF, and P145C. He just said to Google them, but that while there are 4 codes that the first two and last two are basically the same.
Does this sound right? Also, not sure if related in any way, but I've had the "Tighten Fuel Cap" error off and on for the last 2 years every few months. Anyone had this happen before?

Update: I called an independent shop this morning that works on Foreign cars exclusively. They downplayed the AutoZone test, saying it is basically a guess. Their suggestion was to do a more in-depth test of some sort to test each part of the system to determine the exact problem. They said this test is $125 and they would then purchase the appropriate part from the dealer (an OEM part) that was needed.
They said with this code the most common problem is the purge valve (which he said is a $166 part and $130-$140 to install) or the EVAP canister (which he said is a $160 part and $130-$140 to install). Said their labor rate is $115 per hour. I'm certainly no mechanic, but the install video I saw on YouTube (2 min video) makes the install look extremely simple. Any opinions from the forum?

Do a search on here and you'll find both issues are quite common:

use google and add "site:acurazine.com" to limit searches to our site. Replace the purge valve yourself.. it's 2 bolts and 10 minutes, screw them.

I bought one for about $30 from e-Bay (same OEM Honda part number), replaced the old with the new in 10 minutes or so, and the evap/emissions codes and gas cap messages no longer occur.

Just to verify, this would be the correct part? https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Caniste...YAAOSwv2tawvIo

Ahh almost bought it, but its coming direct from China and says the estimated arrival is between June 21-25 which is not ideal. Might have to look at these vendors on this site as an alternative.
