So is the '07 Accord and '07 TL tranny different? If so, which is better? I have an '07 TL with 75K on the clock (all in town) and I'm wondering if I'm going to start having problems.

The 06 - 07 accord tranny bolts up perfectly to the 04-06 TL's. The 07-08 TL's from what I've been told have a slightly different transmission. Forum member YeuEmMaiMai knows the exact details. This is why I did not go with an 07 or 08 TL transmission, even though I found some great prices and good mileage ones at LKQ. So for your 07, just go with a TL transmission. I have not really heard too much about the 07 or 08's going bad, so you should be safe.

See my post above. Ask forum member YeuEmMaiMai the details. From what he told me, the 07/08 TL transmission is a pain to fit into an 04 - 06.

Update on my car so far:

Transmission is working good, just as it did the first day I installed it a few months ago. Car now has almost 3000k miles on it since transmission swap.

Is the the 2.4 liter transmission from the Accord 06-07 the exact one that fits in the 04-06 tl's? Or is there a specific v6 one we need because the 2.4 is the only one I see. Thanks need to swap my girls tranny with this one asap

the 2.4 liter will not fit. it was for the 4 cylinders accord and will not fit on the V6.

putting 07' tl engine and tranny in 05 tl

Does anyone know if I was to get both engine and tranny from an 07 TL if it would still be a pain to get into my 05' TL .. Does the issue only occur when trying to only put and 07' Tl tranny on the 05' engine? I ask becuase I have a pretty good deal on a low mileage engine and tranny off an 07 tl i was thinking about buying, turboing and putting in my 05' tl. Advice????!!!

Hey is everything still working well with the transmission? My 04 transmission is messed up, and i need a new one. I was going to rebuild but dont have time. I need to get this thing back together asap. So the 07 accord has the 3.0 in it, is that the one that will work with the tl. I just want to make sure there is nothing else, that I should look for like early model vin or a certain transmission.

Yup, one year later, about 14k miles on the car since I've done this and it still runs fine, no issues. I am however changing out the transmission fluid 2x a year, maybe overkill but its a whole lot cheaper and less of a hassle than changing the transmission. So as long as your maintenance is on point, everything should be fine.

so my 06 tl transmission is slipping. i plan on doing the 06-07 accord trans swap. I just wanted to make sure that i get the right transmission. what i read it's v6 3.0 trans, does the vin # on the accord trans matter? also whats the best method to remove the trans, from top or bottom of the car?

Do you remember the general order of what you removed to get the transmission in and out? Any tips or tricks you can offer now that you have done it to avoid my husband beating his head on the wall?
He put a new engine in an Accord we had last weekend, and this weekend will be putting the transmission in the Acura. fun days. lol Racing starts back up the weekend after, so if this went smooth, it would be awesome.

I just removed mines yesterday. Steps: Remove the battery and the tray that holds the battery and the intake. Unplug all the wires to the trans, then the oil cooler lines (fluid will spill). Take out the starter. Unplug the vacuum line that runs across the top of the trans down to the sub frame.

I used a engine support bar (harbor freight $80) and a 2x4 to support the engine. if you do it this way remove the strut brace. Then remove the steering joint, make sure you make a mark on it so you know how it goes back in. Unbolt the ps hose and unplug the ps sensor.

Next I removed the front engine and trans motor mount. The rear engine mount is unbolted from the bottom of the sub frame. I waited until I removed the exhaust to unbolt the rear mount. Before doing the exhaust, remove lower control arm and stabilizer link. To get the link out you need a 6mm allen wrench, now take out both axels. I rented a "Front End Service Kit" from Advance Auto Parts. Trust me you will need it.

Now, get under the car, remove all the plastic covers. I broke all the taps, I hate those things. Remove the exhaust and the heat shield near the rear down pipe 3 10mm bolts. Then remove the haft shaft, 3 bolts. The top bolt was kinda hard to get to. There is also a PS hose near the AC compressor, unplug the hose. Have some rags or cup on hand, PS fluid will spill out.

Back to the trans, remove the TC cover 2 10 mm bolts, then remove the 8 10 mm bolts on the fly wheel plate. You will need to rotate the crank to do this. Then remove the shift cable from the trans. When you get the cover off there's a 10 mm bolt with a tap folded against it, you will need a screw driver to pop it to the side. Since I was down here, I removed the 4 bolts to the rear motor mounts. Then trans rear motor mounts and front mount. The bolts are inside the sub frame, 2 in the front and 2 near the back of the trans.

Now I drop the sub frame. There are 2 bolts for front driver side, 2 bolts near the rear of the sub frame and 2 right behind the shocks. This mirrors the passenger side. Once I dropped the sub frame I remove the bottom bolts on the trans, I think there was 4 total. There is a bolts connected to the trans that is locate behind the rear engine mount. Finish taking all the bolts out the top. I am not a mechanic if missed something maybe others can help.

I have yet to find a 07 accord transmission, hopefully by this weekend. I'm not sure what I need from the TL transmission beside the range sensor. I have a 06 TL so hopefully its the same as the 04.

Just a quick update for you guys. 26,000 miles on the accord tranny and its still going strong. I do however change the trans fluid every time I do an engine oil change to keep it really nice and fresh, may be overkill but for 8 bucks a quart I don't mind. Also the transmission shifts soo much smoother after an oil change too.

2004 Acura TL/2007 accord trans swap

So, I've got a 2004 Acura TL and the transmission is done. I took it to a local shop and they offered to rebuild it for around 3 brand with new updated parts etc. This is twice my price range and i also would rather have a better trans that has far less problems. So I found this thread and it's given me some hope that I can have this fixed correctly at a reasonable price. I've talked to another shop that said they could do it for me for around 650 (which is the cheapest I've found in my area.) Also, I've got my eye on a 07 accord V6 tran with 30k on it. Now I know the range switch will have to be upgraded to fit my acura and as far as I can tell that's about the only issue they may face. My question, after speaking to the garage,is do the numbers on the trans have to match in order for this swap to work? How do I get the number off of it and is this guy just pulling my leg in order to get me to build it too? I've got trust in yalls experience and if you can provide me with an answer and any other pertinent details I would be so grateful. Oh btw my card specs are 2004 Acura TL 3.2L V6 automatic.

07 tranny swap

hello everyone, new here but i did just fallow this tutorial to a T and the results where better than i expected, my 04 tl transmission went out after 125k an was considering swapping with another tl transmission until i read this tutorial. decided to give it a try and after a lot of hiccups (the first transmission i got from lkq 115k had a bad mount but they replaced it no questions asked with one that had even less miles on it 111k) i finally got it installed and everything works flawlessly. i have close to 250 miles on the car since the swap with city miles, country miles and highway everything is working great no cel's nothing! just wanted to say thanks for the post i definitely feel better knowing i have a more durable transmission and didnt go with one from another 04/05 tl.

yes everything mounts up this swap from what i understand is for the 04 and 05 tl's only, i used my old torqueconverter but im sure either would work, just fallow this guide and you should be good to go, dont forget to drain all fluilds and pre fill the torqueconverter, all you need to do is swap the ranger sensor harness which connects at the bottom of the transmission behind the black plastic guard. by the way the motor and transmission will come out thru the top but is tight.

I also did this last month when my 04 TL transmission failed. The 2007 Accord transmission is working well so far. Thank for sharing this information; I saved over a thousand dollars because of it.

Quick question. When you replaced the pressure switches did you replace based on your acura 04 pressure switches or Honda 2007 V6 pressure switches? One seems like they are the same part and the other is different.

I have an 05 TL which I had the tranny replaced with the 2007 accord tranny a year ago. Had the accord pressure switches want to change them out but not sure which.
