2006 TL Shudders
Dear all,
3 weeks after buying this car (2006 Acura TL - MT), I have begun to notice that the car shudders around 30-35 MPH speed. It does not happen each time the car is crossing that speed, but at least 60% of the times. If I accelerate quickly from 0 to beyond 40, I don't experience it at all (maybe, because I am passing over that patch too quickly) but if I accelerate slowly, I notice it definitely. The car shudders as if it is bucking or driving over cobblestone road... during that patch. Any idea why this wound happen? Is the transmission slipping?
I read somewhere that it could also be due to TPS problem. What does that mean?
Thanks

The previous post seems like a solution for an automatic TL....since yours is a manual trans, I would look into the following in the order of least to greatest cost to repair.
-balance front wheels (this can cause the shuddering)
-inspect and replace engine mounts (the front and side mounts are the first to go, you can tell by leaky hydraulic fluid traces around the mounts)
-Damaged drive axles

What do you mean by shudder? I have an issue with my car same car 06 tl MT, where when I'm at 35 my car feels like it losses power. It holds back but you csnt feel it unless your driving it. I took it to Acura and they can't duplicate it! My car holds back for less than a sec.

That is right... it feels like the car holds back and is losing power at and around that speed. Of course, this does not happen 100% of the times so the mechanic might not be able to reproduce it. I changed the transmission fluid a couple weeks ago using the 3X3 drain-fill procedure explained in the forum. That seem to have cured the shudder problem at least for now, although very rarely I have begun to experience it in earlier speed range (20-25 mph) mildly.

This sounds like the problem I used to have. Please take this problem very seriously because it is likely your transmission. I cured the problem by replacing my trans fluid and the transmission switches. Please refer to these two threads. If you are suffering transmission shudder, take care of this as soon as possible because each time the shudder occurs it is a LOT of wear on the clutch packs and soon your transmission will go. Either way, fix on its way

Nope...I have not changed it or had it changed since I have owned it. (just over 1 1/2)... Where to buy the REDLINE? Any specific specs of fluid? Is this available at the neighborhood auto part stores EX> Advance Auto Parts?

The 5at BS is present even in the 6mt threads. Wow.
To the OP, a 3x3 is a waste of money on a manual. A single drain and fill is fine.
A shudder in a manual is usually ignition related, more specifically a misfire.
Try giving it a lot of throttle at lower rpms in 3rd and 4th gear not going below 1500 rpms. Does it get worse when hot?

My 07 TL has a shudder in 3rd gear. Called the Acura dealer and they said it might be a torque converter problem. I mentioned the the sensors and they said it probably won't take care of the problem. I'm taking it in Friday to have them test drive it with me.

Its still worth a try to go ahead and fix as mentioned. There is a FULL DIY THREAD with the easy process and is a well common problem with the 06 TL AT.

The 07-08 transmission is different than the 04-06. I've looked at the DIY threads and my sensors aren't as accessible. It has 60,000 on it, so it's still under factory warranty. I'm gonna let them do to it what they want. Not costing me anything.

This thread is about shudder in a 6mt, totally different considering one is an engine problem and one is a transmission problem. There are a hundred worthless threads on the 5at problems and fixes.
