2006 AT kicks at low speed

I have a 2006 TL with an automatic transmission and it kicks at low speed when the automatic tranny up-shifts (it's the transition from gear shift 1 to 2 OR 2 to 3). Additionally, it never happens when the car automatically down-shifts. Also, when I put the car in manual mode, it has no problems up-shifting and everything is smooth. Some say it could be electrical? what exactly could be the electrical problem? I have done a transmission fluid drain and replace (not a flush).

For what it's worth, I also get this 'kick' in automatic mode when it shifts from 1 to 2. Sometimes when the road is incline or decline, it seems to be more noticeable.
I haven't done transmission fluid drain / refill yet. Since this doesn't happen when shifting manually, I'm not that worried about it.

I've read some people resetting the ECU by stepping on the throttle for 30+ seconds + key in position II. I think I may try that. Ill share my results when I get a chance to do this.

Is there any harm in resetting the ECU? I bought an 04 TL auto at 149K miles and have read that the ECU adapts to the drivers driving habits. I want it to adapt to mine but unsure if it will harm the ECU or any other components. Any advice would be appreciated.
